Todays post is a little more personal today, as I try to be but sometimes its hard to express my feelings with words or generally at all. I keep getting asked what I do, what am I majoring in, what do I want to do when I get out of college and so on, you get the point. So I'm going to tell you guys some of my goals and what I am doing right now and so on, so you guys can grasp whats going on in my life and where I am headed!
To start off, fashion has always been a huge part of my life. Ever since I was little my mom would take me thrifting at the Salvation army on 50% off days and I would always search for unique vintage items. Except during my middle school days when it was cool to "fit in". Aeropostale was so 6th grade and I was on to bigger and better things in 7th and 8th grade, Abercrombie and Hollister. But after that stage I always would look for Items I knew that no one else would have and people would envy me having it, and knowing that I was the only one who had something, kinda like a treasure, was thrilling.
On to high school, I was never one to really fit in. I mean people thought I was cool, but I was weird. Looking back to what I would wear freshman year, posting #ootd on Instagram which when I look back now were really embarrassing. But what I found out I really loved throughout those times was putting outfits together. Mixing prints being able to pull things off that no one else could. People would always ask me "What are you wearing?" and I would learn to embrace that question and answer it with confidence "CLOTHES! DUH". My myspace still depicts those days. Its like taking a trip back in time whenever I even go look at my pictures. But what I learned is that I had a passion for something and that something was being able to express myself through clothing and people being able to understand who I was.
Going into college was stressful. I picked a school that didn't have Fashion Merchandising which was what I wanted to do, or anything fashion related. But I could play volleyball and it helps me pay for my college and being in a Godly atmosphere made it even better. Before I signed to play at Cincinnati Christian University, I asked multiple people who are in the fashion world and have a career in fashion merchandising what I should do and what would be more beneficial to major in and they told me the best thing to do was to be a Business Major because it was a wider major and not so specific. And that would clarify things for me. Here I am going to be my junior year in college and majoring in Business marketing. I study fashion as a hobby not as a school credit. And I think that is the most satisfying thing for me. I don't do it because its assigned, I do it because I want to. Once you have a passion for something you will do whatever it takes to be the best at what you are doing.
I now have growing social media platforms and working with tons of companies. I am learning how to be a PR and also social media marketing. I am currently interning with my brothers rather big company called Home Life Media and running various social media platforms for them. I turned down two Internships simply because they weren't what I wanted. I am constantly posting content and learning the ways of running your own company and advertising through social media. I have learned more in this past year about what I want to do more than ever. I love working with social media and producing content. Its all about being yourself and making your own content rather than stealing from others. I don't know whats ahead in my future but I am headed in the right direction! I have figured a lot of things out on my own and can only go up from here!
