Must Have Essentials for Content Creators

Hey everyone!

I'm so excited to share this blogpost! These are all things I wish I knew about when I began my  journey! I'm more than willing to share what I've learned thus far about being a self sustaining blogger/creative/influencer. So sit tight, there is quite a bit of information below!

Content comes from what you envision it to be. Some people are gifted with being able to think deep and envision something in their brain before its acted out in real life. Although the things below will greatly help you, it is what you already have thats most important, your brain and the ability to be creative.

So before we get into these essentials, Theres some things you need to figure out:

Basically what brings you the most joy and what you are passionate about. This is SUPER important because people love authentic content. You need to be true to yourself and use that to push out content that you genuinely love and enjoy. For some people it may be beauty, for others travel. Personally I reside under the lifestyle niche because I simply love everything.

Its important to have a certain style or edit of photos. This may not be important for everyone, but for me, it has tremendously help me grow. My feed looks nice and cohesive using the same edits and all the photos have a similar style. Also, once you have a certain style of photos, people will start to recognize you for that.

What I have witnessed so far is quality content is key. Many companies ask for high resolution images and sometimes I feel like its hard to take iPhone photos seriously. These companies are paying you for your images and when zoomed in, iPhone photos can be blurry. Also, you want to leave a good impression because they will most likely reach back out in the future if they see the amazing content you can create. Investing in a good camera and lens has been one of the best investments I have made. People can definitely tell quality off your photos.

So the first investment I would make is a DSLR Camera but if you can't afford one, your iPhone will do for now!

Cameras I recommend:

Sony Alpha a600 -  Test the limits of your creativity with the premium mirrorless DSLR that’s focused on speed. Every artistic shot you take—from fast-action to candid—benefits from 24.3MP detail and the world’s fastest auto focus6. For capturing crucial moments that go by in a blink, the a6000 can shoot 11 photos in one second. It’s compact and easy to use, too. Two quick-access dials let you change settings on the fly. Very intuitive.

Canon 5D Mark iii (MY BABY)- The Canon 5D Mark III is a true "superstar" camera, with impressive capabilities for both still and video shooting. It suits the needs of well-heeled amateurs and working pros equally well, and while its resolution is only very slightly higher than that of the 5D Mark II. Superb still and video image quality; Powerful, fast, and accurate AF system with loads of cross-type points, loads of configurability and great frame coverage; Rugged, weather-sealed body with great control layout and user-interface configurability.

35mm 1.4  (MY OTHER BABY): This is the lens I use for almost everything! Danny insisted buying this and it has definitely made a difference and it totally worth the splurge! The images that this produces is fantastic!

These essentials are super helpful when creating content. I have collected them over the years and wish I would have known to buy them when I first started out!

If you don't have a dslr, or saving up to buy one, this is your best friend in the time being. I bought one of these in college and would go out to empty lots and set up my phone and take photos of my outfits. However, this tripod is very light, so be careful because it will blow over in the wind, I learned the hard way! This set also comes with a wireless remote, which is super essential because you don't have to keep running back and forth to your phone. Quick and efficient!

Ive dealt with my fair share of tripods trying to go the cheap route and they always break. Invest in a good heavy duty tripod that won't blow over in the wind! Also, get one that will be tall enough for you to use for good full body outfits!

GUYS, without this your life will be 10x harder trying to get the perfect shots. You can buy one of these for your phone (click here) or one for your camera (click here). Just make sure that the description says that it will pair with your camera! This has been a huge life saver because you don't have to keep going back to the camera to press the button, and also it will make sure that the camera is focused on you!

This is an amazing free app that lets you look at your feed and lets you upload photos to see what your feed would look like with certain photos. To sum it up, basically it helps you keep your feed flowing from one photo to another! I literally just started using it this month and it has been a lifesaver!

I am not an organized person and I will openly admit that! However, having a calendar is key when you get into the busy life of collaborating with brands! You can keep track of when things  are due to post and you can also just jot down any upcoming ideas you may have!  I personally like to have a calendar that I can write in! Otherwise you can just use you phone calendar.

I have personally used all of the things I have listed above and will continue using them until the end! They have helped me tremendously especially when I haven't had a photographer around to take my photos!

I hope you liked this blogpost and it will help you in someway! :)
